Miami Coral Park was founded in 1963 and was intended to serve the suburban Miami area. The school started out composed of 1 building, now known as the “old building”. As time went on, the school expanded to gain a significant Hispanic population, thanks to events like the Mariel boatlift and Operation Pedro Pan, as well as immigration from other South and Central American countries into the county. The school has always suffered from some overcrowding, which led to the expansion of the school. Construction for the “science wing” of the school and the library began in 1993 and a new building was added in 2005, providing two floors of instructional space and a second office, as well as a covered parking lot and a new cafeteria.
Today, Miami Coral Park is led by the Principal, Mr. Scott Weiner, and offers 2,400+ students ranging from grades 9 through 12 an education that will help them achieve their full potential. This includes offering one of the best Engineering programs in the state for high school students.
Many of our alumni have gone on to achieve great success in life as actors, businessmen and athletes. Some of these alumni include Steven Reinemund (former CEO of PepsiCo), Lili Estefan (El Gordo y La Flaca),, Jose Canseco (Major League Baseball player), and Armando Christian Perez (aka: Pitbull, a famous Hip-Hop Artist).
